On behalf of the ECIS 2016 team, we are kindly inviting you to submit prototype papers to the "Information Systems Development” track of 2016 European Conference on Information Systems on the theme "Information Systems as a Global Gateway” that will take place in İstanbul, Turkey on the campus of Boğaziçi University and be hosted by its Department of Management Information Systems on June 12-15 June 2016.

At ECIS 2016, prototype presentations will take the form of a live demonstration, videos showing the prototype in use, posters illustrating the prototype, or any combination of these three modalities. Accepted prototype papers will be published in the ECIS conference proceedings and made available in the AIS Electronic Library

Prototype Paper Submission Requirements

  • Prototype papers to be submitted typically present technical solutions developed in response to a specific practical problem. Prototype papers need to provide insights into the addressed problem, related design objectives, the need for a new prototype, what the prototype looks like, and the prototype's contribution to extant theory and/or practice.
  • Prototype papers should  refer only to "Information Systems Development”  track of ECIS 2016.
  • Prototype papers must be submitted by email to to the Information Systems Development track.
  • The ECIS Standing Committee has established a maximum limit of 3 submissions per author (including coauthored papers) covering research, research-in-progress and prototype papers. Any submissions beyond this limit by a given author, will be eliminated from the review process (fourth and further research, research-in-progress or prototype papers will be identified based on date and time of submission).
  • English is the language of the conference and of all submissions.


Prototype Paper Submission Guidelines

  • Papers must not exceed seven (7) single-spaced pages and must conform to the "ECIS 2016 Submission Template”. The 7 pages must include all text, figures, tables, and appendices. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.
  • Author(s)' name(s) should not appear in the body of the paper and the abstract. References to institutions, sponsors, unpublished/published works should be eliminated if these references will identify any author. To aid in making the paper anonymous, "Acknowledgements” section should be left blank until the final version is prepared for the proceedings.
  • Papers should be submitted as a ".pdf” file.
  • All papers must be submitted via e-mail (
  • Any submission that violates the above guidelines will be eliminated from the review process.



  • Copyright is retained by the authors. By submitting the final paper to the conference organizers, the authors agree to allow the conference organizers to have non-exclusive use of the material for publication in the various modalities of the conference proceedings.
  • Authors are encouraged to develop their papers for journal publication after the conference.
